What was your experience like as an "elder" at Burning Man?

I realized that there were lots of people at Burning Man over 60 last year (my first time), but they were usually by themselves or with one other person. I was part of a wonderful, interesting group of people who were all way younger than me. It was fun being part of that group and theme camp (Winking Lotus), but I kept wanting to find people closer to my age to hang out with and share the experience.

geezerama!

This will be our second Burn -- my sweet husband and I (we're in our mid-60s) went two years ago -- and we loved it, but being fairly clueless, didn't have any thing to share or contribute except good vibes. This time, we want to do Geezerama -- which is in process conceptually, but involves offering an opportunity for any burner (you're only as old as you feel) to hang out and listen to other-than-techno/trance type music. Classical, jazz, folk, do-wap -- real music. Other plans involve serving cold prune juice in the mornings, dispensing advice (both solicited and unsolicited) -- whatever geezerly burners should do. We would really like input, feedback, participation, from other elders! Please share your ideas with us --

I'd like to welcome Richard and Jack to the Tribe of Elders. If you feel like it, please introduce yourselves to the group. As new people join, let's use this topic to say hello and share your ideas of what you'd like the Tribe of Elders camp to do/be.

Let's start a Tribe of Elders camping area. It will be a gathering area to meet each other. Any ideas about where to camp?

Wanna start a theme camp? "We will listen to you"

My friend Zalmo suggested a starting a theme camp with the mission: "we will listen to you." Everyone wants to be heard and we could offer that service. Someone else suggested that our sign should be a big heart with ears. I have been thinking about how we could do this. It could be a portable service, on our bicycles, so we would have more traffic. We could park on the playa and set up shop. Or we could offer it at our theme camp site. Someone else suggested tape recording what people say and passing the tape on to other people, so more people will listen to them. Then it started getting complicated with how we could make a master and gather what everyone said and make it available later, etc. That's when I decided to bring it up here. Is anyone interested?
